Money in Maths
This term our class is focusing on Money. To start off our
money unit we discussed why money is important and why we need to learn how to
count and exchange money. We all agreed it is important to know how to use
money so we can buy endless amounts of toys! We have been learning how to
convert dollars to cents and cents to dollars. We have also learnt how to make
various amounts of money. By the end of the term we will also know how to work
out change from $1. A great way you can help us to practise our money skills at
home is by counting how much pocket money we have or counting how much money
you might have.
Below are some photos of us using play money to make
different amounts of money. We had so much fun!

Faction Carnival
Just a reminder that the Faction Carnival will be held this
Friday. Make sure you have your faction shirt on, hats on your head, good
sportsmanship and cheering voices ready to go! Go orange!
A huge congratulations to the super sports star of Room 16, who competed in the cross country event. You all did an amazing job and we are so proud of you for running that far and trying your hardest!
Book Week
Last week was book week and our class studied the book, Mr
Huff by Anna Walker. We absolutely love this book! It is about a little boy who
is having a really bad day. Mr Huff is following him around and making
everything seem very difficult. The
little boy tries everything to get rid of Mr Huff, but things just get worse
and worse, and Mr Huff gets bigger and bigger. Then they both stop trying so
hard and things become better.
We created our own Mr Huffs and wrote things that make us
have a bad day. After we finished writing these things we then thought of
solutions to these problems that get us down. We spoke about how things often
seem worse than they really are and that is okay and normal. Next time we have
a Mr Huff following us around we can think of solutions to get rid of him.
Come in and see our Mr Huffs hanging up in the classroom.
